Christmas shopping in September? We know what you're thinking. Absolutely not.

The sun is still shining, you've only just stopped talking about summer holidays and there's probably still a rogue BBQ planned somewhere. So why on earth would you be thinking about Christmas? Well... hear us out. Our Christmas collection launches on 7 September, and while that might sound very early, the stats suggest that September isn't quite as mad as it sounds. In fact, more and more of us are getting our Christmas shopping done well before December rolls around. And honestly? We think they're onto something.

1. Spread the cost of Christmas

Christmas is magical, but let's be honest, it can also be expensive. According to the Office for National Statistics, 41% of adults planning Christmas purchases said they would buy gifts earlier to help spread the cost. Rather than leaving everything until December and wondering where all your money went, picking up a few presents here and there means you can spread those Christmas spends over a few months. A little September shopping here. A stocking filler in October. A Secret Santa sorted in November. Future you will be very grateful.

2. Say goodbye to the Christmas shopping panic

We've all been there. It's December. You've got approximately 47 things to do, your diary is suddenly full of Christmas parties, and you've just remembered that you need a present for your sister's boyfriend's mum. Panic mode: activated. And you're not alone. 33% of UK consumers say Christmas shopping is stressful, according to Deloitte. Shopping earlier means you can take your time, actually think about what people might like and avoid that last-minute “I'll just get them a candle” panic. Although, no judgement if you do.

3. Get organised before the madness begins

There is something extremely satisfying about having Christmas presents sorted before December. According to PwC research, 34% of people who shop early say their main reason is simply wanting to be organised. And we get it. Imagine getting to December and already having most of your Christmas shopping done. No frantic online orders. No wondering whether something will arrive in time. No wandering around the shops on Christmas Eve looking increasingly stressed. Just festive films, mince pies and putting your feet up. Sounds good to us.

4. Find the good stuff before it's gone

Shopping early isn't just about being organised. It's also about having more choice. If you've got a few tricky people to buy for, starting early gives you plenty of time to find something a little more fun and unexpected. Something for your best mate. Something for the colleague who loves a sweet treat. Something for the family member who is impossible to buy for. 5. Get Christmas shopping done... before Christmas actually starts

This might be our favourite reason. Because Christmas shopping is fun. But Christmas is even better when you're not spending the entire thing thinking about Christmas shopping. Getting ahead means you can actually enjoy December for what it's supposed to be about. Christmas markets. Christmas films. Festive drinks. Seeing your favourite people. Eating far too many sweets. And knowing that you've already sorted the presents? Chef's kiss.

So... is September really too early?

The stats say probably not. In fact, 37% of UK shoppers planned to shop mainly in September and October, according to Clearpay research, while 46% said they planned to shop early. So if you've already started thinking about Christmas, you're definitely not alone. And if you haven't? Don't worry. We're not here to judge.
