During Mental Health Awareness Week, at Treat Kitchen we decided to give some of the amazing volunteers at Stonebridge City Farm a well-deserved break. Nestled near Sneinton Market on Stonebridge Road, this charming urban farm is just a stone's throw away from us. Open seven days a week from 10 AM to 4:15 PM, the farm is a great community hub that relies heavily on its dedicated volunteers.
Our visit was all about relaxation and enjoyment, and what better way to unwind than with a gingerbread decorating session? We organised this fun and creative activity to bring some positive vibes and provide yummy treats for the hardworking volunteers. The response was fantastic – the volunteers absolutely loved it! Gingerbread decorating brought a wonderful mix of relaxation and tasty fun, making it a perfect activity to promote mental well-being.
Stonebridge City Farm is a gem in the heart of the city, offering a wonderful escape for both residents and visitors. The farm has a variety of animals including very cute pigs and Kevin, the marvellous tortoise. We got the pleasure of seeing Margaret the Meerkat on her last day at the farm, before travelling to stay with some other meerkat friends to keep her company. The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the animals are well looked after, and the farm remains a welcoming place for everyone.
While the farm is technically free to enter, it relies on donations to keep running smoothly. We highly recommend leaving a small donation during your visit to help maintain this fantastic community resource. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure that Stonebridge City Farm can continue to offer an accessible and exciting experience for all.
Our gingerbread decorating session was a true delight. Engaging in a mindful activity like this was not only fun but also a great way to support the friendly volunteers who play such a crucial role in keeping the farm operational. The room was full with positive energy, and we left feeling recharged and connected.
